Old Movies

One of my favorite things to do during the holidays is to watch old Christmas movies. Films like “It’s A Wonderful Life” and “A Christmas Carol” really make the holidays complete. We have direct tv, and there are so many channels that during the holidays there are countless movies on television. I think one of the reasons I enjoy these films is because they remind me of Christmas when I was a child. I have little children of my own now, and I hope that the memories that they are making are as lasting as the ones that I made as a child with my parents. Christmas was always a really joyful holiday at our house. My own mother loved to bake, and Christmas time meant delicious baked goods for our house as well as the neighbors. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday, and one of the ways I know it is here is to see the classic Christmas programs show up on TV again. Some channels are even playing a different Christmas movie every day up until Christmas. I love the holidays.

Europe 2012 Calendar

This 2012 Europe Calendar contains photos from some of my favorite places in Europe including Prague, Czech Republic, Dresden, Germany, Austria, Venice, Italy, and London, England. I don't think England is technically considered part of Europe but it is close enough to Europe (and far enough from my home in the USA) that I consider it part of Europe. I hope you enjoy the photos.

My Next Trip Is to Alaska

I am getting ready for my next trip which will be to Homer, Alaska in August of 2011. In thinking of what I need to purchase before I go I thought I would like to upgrade my camera equipement and came across this interesting comparison shopping website. www.canadapost.ca/shopper/canon/store/445 which seems to have some great deals.

I am not sure if I need a new camera but maybe I could just add some accessories and upgrades to my current camera which is actually working fine and taking great photos. I just know that Alaska is such a beautiful place and I really want to be able to capture its beauty in my photos.

Your Delft blue portrait on a real KLM Plane

I received an e-mail from the Dutch airline tileyourself.com about a contest they are having where you can have your photo painted in a tile on the side of their aircraft. This is a very intersting contest to me that I may enter. I really like KLM airlines and used to travel to Europe quite a bit for a former job that I had in the late 90s. I loved how KLM would give you one of those little blue dutch houses when you flew in Business Class. They were filled with some type of liquor. I still have a nice collection of the houses on a shelf in my study at home. The liquor is still in them as I don't drink and had no reason to open the house.

KLM is based in the Nethlands. Some of my favorite things to do and see in the Netherlands were:

The very quant town of Delft and the very quaint shops along its canal lined streets
The Hague and all its beuatiful embassy buildings
Shopping and sightseeing along the canals of Amsterdam
The thouseands of tulip bulbs in bloom at KEUKENHOF Gardens

And of course to get to the Netherlands I highly recommend flying on tileyourself.com Airlines Their service was almost always on time and outstanding.
